Pool Tables
The History of Pool There are many versions of pool and these include: 8 ball, 9 ball, straight pool and billiards. The name pool came from gamblers who met to wager bets on horse races and at that time billiard tables were usually present. Gamblers would "pool" their money to place large bets on certain horses. Pool is played on a similar table to snooker i.e. similar slate bed, 6 pockets and played with 2 cues.
